This is my third week as a blogger! I have followers by email, in Facebook (B-architecture Miami) and more than 60 views on the videos in youtube. Not bad! Thank you all for your support and please keep reading.
About our adventure, is going better than expected. This week a lot of work was done, in the house and shopping for all the needs of the remodeling, let me tell you it feels very different to shop for a remodeling if its for you than for a client. A lot of money was well spent, I hope.
In the house, the openings in the living room were reinforced structurally, a big and messy work, involving wood to form the new columns, steel for the reinforcing, concrete, lots of it, and wood for the framing of the secondary structure. Its done, and I could not be happier with the result, its amazing, it makes all this work absolutely worth.
The opening in the kitchen from the living and the little wall behind the entrance door, are done are ready to be finish, (the entrance of the house makes much more sense now), the window was removed, the opening made bigger, and the new window was installed, the kitchen ceiling was repaired, and new lights were wired. The other opening towards the new family was widen and the wood structure was reinforced. The day I came into the house and the openings were done (the living-kitchen, the bigger window, the opening kitchen-family, and the new double doors family-outside) it hit me how much light came into the space, it seams like a much bigger house.
In the old addition, now the new family, all the electricity was redone, creating an additional in the budget, ouch, the new double door was installed in lieu of the solid single door that was existing, (a terrace is, eventually, to be constructed outside this door), and a new opening was created besides the existing sliding door, the old sliding door from the living is going to be installed in this opening.
The rest of the work was done in the bathrooms, the completely new powder room, and kids bathroom are framed, drywall is up, electricity, and plumbing done, and the pocket doors installed.
I love the area left for the powder room is going to be small, but cute and very useful.
Today my very handy husband made the kitchen island smaller, it was too close to to the new pantry, you can see the pantry beginning to take shape in the video, its going to be big, and the washer and dryer are going to be turn from the garage to the kitchen, to make me do laundry more often (I kind of prefer writing, or really do anything else than laundry, which its never, ever finished).
Shopping we are done with the bathroom stuff, it took us two sundays with two very complaining kids, to be done. But thanks to Ikea AS-IS department we are under budget, call it faith, luck, or coincidence, (I call it a small miracle) we found most of what we have already selected, more than 40% off.
The third dumpster is not half full, very good, we just had one in the budget, and at $300 each it makes a dent in our very thigh budget.
There is a lot to be done, but so far we are good, positive and in good spirits to continue our amazing adventure.
