B- Mortified cleaning lady

Today was the day, we finally got to see what was what, and guess what?

It was even worst than I imagine, I knew he will leave tons of stuff behind, I knew he was not very clean, and disorganized …

what we found today was not only dirty, in every sense of the word, disorganized, dangerous but plainly and being somehow kind, DISGUSTING.

Some of the things I got to trash today, socks, old papers, photographs, soaps, shaving equipment of any and all kinds, clothes, shoes, medicines,

not that bad?

wait for it,

wait for it ,

wait for it,

Used condoms, sexual toys, sex positions poster, a sex position inflatable wedge, pornography in books, videos, magazines, etc, tampon applicators,

not that bad?

wait for it,

wait for it ,

wait for it,

Drugs, drug paraphernalia, syringes and needles, bloody clothes, and bloody tissue paper and all this together with lots of baby stuff (yes a baby lived in the house). I am sure there is more, but i just want to erase it from my memory.

I hated it, I felt disrespected, and taken advantage of. He came at the end of the day without a care in the world, looking for stuff thinking he could come into OUR HOUSE, I could not believe it, Juan Carlos is at the moment changing the locks.

I have been thinking about this blog for a while, and imagining the videos I would post, but when I was recording this video today, I though hard about not posting it, but it is part of the process, (let me tell you today I lost a bit of my faith in humanity).

What did we accomplish today? Not a whole lot, we got to get the debris out of the bedrooms and bathrooms, the living and dinning room and the kitchen. We demolished the awful glass block partition and tear down most of the 80′s window coverings. And cleaned the front yard, full of cigarette buts. Quarter of the dumpster is full.

First day done

Tomorrow is another day.

How terrible for you guys to be picking up all those things that belonged to someone else. Needles, blood clothes, used condons, very unsanitary… To say the least. This looks like a long term project, not a 2-week-thing, did you know what were you getting into? Did you walk through the house before you purchase it or was it a blind buy? This is only on the exterior, I really wonder what the full inspection is going to be, lights, plumb, ceilings, roof, foundation, structure, etc, etc… Good luck with all the hard work, keep us post it, I’m following you, I really want to see how you are going to transform this with an extreme makeover! Keep posting! :)

    • I know it looks worst than terrible! We knew what we where getting into, it wasnt a blind buy, we bought it directly from the owner (which make the state he left it on even worst), it wasnt a foreclosure, short sale or anything, there was not bank involved.
We knew it had cosmetic problems, lots of it, but we did inspections and the house has good guts, and as we architects love houses, my new house has lots of “potential”, if you dont believe check http://www.lifeofanarchitect.com/architects-house-part-2/
My problem was the mess, and “cochinada”, nasty stuff they left behind.
And no, its not a 2 week project, I am hoping to get it done in 2 months, We should be out of the rental by april 1st.
      I will keep posting.
      I am loving it!!!

  15. Renters have to review their rental understanding carefully
before signing this document. The rental agreement is really a
legally binding document which must be given proper consideration
before stepping into the agreement. This is important because
understanding these terms shall be essential if the have to break
the lease becomes a real possibility.
